Works are listed for study only; listing a title does not endorse every idea it contains, and nothing here is a plan for or endorsement of any contemporary project. The Texas Border Case Study

Many who consider themselves reasonable hold that a terrible thing happened during the Biden years: the handling of the Texas border. Of the total migrants coming through this border, about 2.5 million were allowed to enter, and 1.5 million more, known as “gotaways”, got through without documents. From an Objectivist perspective on open immigration, this episode serves as a case study: what happened when large numbers crossed the border and how the U.S. economy absorbed them.

On Waiting for Godot

The playwright Samuel Beckett won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1969, largely because of his play Waiting for Godot (pronounced “Goh-doh,” with a silent “t”). Its plot follows two characters, Vladimir and Estragon, who are waiting by a tree for someone named Godot, hoping he will bring meaning or purpose to their lives. They talk, pass the time with small tasks, and meet a couple of other characters with whom they have meaningless conversations. Godot never shows up.

Why It Isn't Minarchism

Libertarians claim that Minarchism is the same political system as laissez-faire Capitalism. It is not. To understand what libertarians mean when they advocate for Minarchism, it is important to consider their perspective on how it compares to Statism and Anarchism, and how the size of government factors into it. This is how they see it:

The diagram shows a spectrum based on government size. On one end is statism—large government—while the other end represents anarchism, where no government exists. Minarchism, sits between these two, suggesting a government whose size should be reduced, but not entirely abolished.

Anthem Liberty Foundation promotes the study and public understanding of individual rights, liberty, and capitalism. We conduct research, publish educational articles, maintain a public library and website, and present public seminars, lectures, and workshops on individual rights and capitalism from an Objectivist perspective. Our resources are available to students, scholars, and the general public.

Anthem Liberty Foundation takes its name from Ayn Rand’s novella Anthem (1938). In the story, a collectivist society has erased the word “I”; when its hero rediscovers his own mind, he recovers the concept of individual worth. Anthem is listed in our library under fiction.

Anthem Liberty Foundation takes its name from Ayn Rand’s novella Anthem. This inspiring work, written in poetic prose, is read by thousands of high school students each year through the Ayn Rand Institute’s Books for Teachers program. From the book cover:
